What the process means
You should have a voice in consequential decisions.
Hayden does not treat communication as an update sent after the work is finished. He explains what has been received, what it may mean, what is still unknown, and what choices may be ahead.
When client preparation or mitigation may be useful, Hayden identifies the steps, the reason they matter, and the time available. Before a plea, motion, trial, or other major decision, the goal is a clear conversation grounded in the evidence and law.
Defined flat-fee stages.
Defined stages help clients understand what a phase of representation will cost before the work begins. The engagement agreement identifies the work covered by the initial stage. If the case moves to trial, the additional trial fee is discussed and defined in advance.
What direct communication looks like
- Listening before advising.
- Explaining the immediate next step in plain language.
- Identifying what evidence has been received and what remains outstanding.
- Preparing the client before an important court setting or decision.
- Discussing realistic choices without guarantees or pressure.
